1099 reconciliation
At tax time, the question is simple: does each carrier’s 1099 match what they actually paid me? CommissionSight answers it from the statements you’ve already loaded. Open it from the account menu (top-right) → 1099 reconciliation.
How it works
- Pick a tax year.
- For each carrier, CommissionSight tallies the commission they actually paid you
across that calendar year:
- Paid (net) — total commission net of chargebacks. This is the figure that should line up with the 1099, since carriers report net of clawbacks.
- Paid (gross) and chargebacks — the two halves behind the net, so you can see how much was clawed back.
- Periods covered — how many months of that year you’ve loaded (your sanity check that the tally is complete).
- Enter the amount from each carrier’s 1099 box. CommissionSight shows the variance — the difference between what the carrier reported and what your statements say they paid.
Reading the variance
- A small variance is normal — rounding, or a payment that landed in a different period than the coverage month.
- A large variance usually means one of two things:
- A missing month — the tally only reflects statements you’ve loaded, so a gap reads low. Load the full year before trusting the number (watch periods covered).
- A carrier reporting error — if your statements are complete and the 1099 still disagrees, that’s a conversation to have with the carrier, with the month-by-month detail to back it up.
Everything is computed from your own loaded statements; nothing is sent anywhere or stored for this view.
